2018
A Kunst Am Bau (Percent-for-Art) project commissioned by Bezirksamt Lichtenberg von Berlin, Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium. Supported by the Büro für Kunst im öffentichen Raum BBK Berlin
Industrial paint, reflective glass beads, neon pigment
159x363 cm X4
From the project description: "My proposal for Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium is to think of the main staircase of the school building simply as an autobahn. The staircase is the building’s busiest area, with students and teachers constantly moving up and down. The playful painted murals consist of three colors in various shape combinations: white retro-reflective street marking paint, highly visible neon yellow, and graphite dark grey, resembling asphalt. The Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium is proud and known for its multilingual and highly international student mix. On the Road signifies these values through the notion of movement and travel in space, seeing the Gymnasium as a dynamic common ground for the exchange of cultural knowledge and experience."
Assistant: Arch. Ana Filipovic
Execution: MP Design
Documentation: Ludger Paffrath
