Safe & Sound Deluxe Edition looks into the past and present of various audiovisual safety and security methods and their adaptations into popular and subcultural aesthetic, from early modern times up to our days. The text booklet consists of commissioned essays by Shachar Atwan, Fabrizio Gallanti, and Hillel Schwartz, tackling different manners, respectively, the history of high-visibility clothing and fire regulations architecture, and the phenomenon of acoustic alarms as seen from a neurologic, sociologic, and cultural perspective. The double-sided poster collection set includes 12 staged photographs realized and paired by Rodeh as a visual complement and counterpoint to the essays.
The publication was made possible with the support of the Israeli State Lottery Council for Culture and the Arts and published on the occasion of Rodeh’s solo exhibition at Grimmuseum, Berlin 2015.
