Nightcaps כוסות לילה

A public art intervention at Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak featuring sculptural add-ons for the community’s 1960s-era spherical lamps. While somewhat iconic and beloved, these fixtures emit 360º light, disrupting nocturnal wildlife and human circadian rhythms by excessive light pollution. The eight works playfully reduce light spill without compromising pedestrian safety.

Developed in collaboration with residents through workshop and discussions, כוסות לילה emphasizes a vision of renewal and repair over disposal. By modifying existing infrastructure, the project sparks dialogue on two critical issues: the growing impact of over-illumination and the capacity for public art to engage local communities.
